Mission Statement
Sight Shooter’s mission is to educate the public in the safe use of any firearm and to become responsible for the safe handling and understanding of that firearm. This is done through training in conjunction with the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA).
Safe Firearm Handling
Safety is very important when dealing with any firearm so that is the theme throughout all the courses offered by Sight Shooter. In all the courses, you’ll learn how to handle a firearm safely and with confidence.
- ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. This is the primary rule of gun safety.
- ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
- ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
- Know your target and what is beyond it.
- Store guns so they are inaccessible to unauthorized persons
Use only the correct ammunition for your gun. Where do you find this information?
- On the gun itself
- In the owner’s manual
- On the bottom of the cartridge and the box in which it came
Be sure your gun is safe to operate. Read the owner’s manual. If you don’t have one, try to find the owner’s manual from the manufacturer. If you don’t know when it was last used, take it to a gunsmith to make sure it is in perfect working order.
Wear eye and ear protection. Wear glasses that are ANSI Z87.1 certified and/or Ballistic-Rated to protect your eyes from flying debris and impact hazard. Wear ear protection of 25-31 dB levels to protect your ears from the sound level of 140 dB of the gun report.
